Our Mission

The Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police was founded in 1971 to foster official and personal cooperation between law enforcement executives and the citizens of Kentucky. Today the association comprises more than 500 law enforcement executives across the Commonwealth, including police chiefs, sheriffs, state and federal administrators, and railroad police.

Programs for Kentucky Law Enforcement

KACP supports police chiefs, sheriffs, and law enforcement executives through a range of statewide programs. Its accreditation program helps agencies demonstrate they meet recognized standards for efficient, effective operations. KACP retains a professional legislative agent who monitors the Kentucky General Assembly and champions law enforcement issues in Frankfort. Members receive discounts on testing materials, and accredited agencies earn a discount on liability insurance through the Kentucky League of Cities.

KACP also provides financial assistance to law enforcement students, Special Olympics, the Police Memorial Foundation, and Concerns of Police Survivors, and each KACP region receives funding to support training and meetings throughout the year.

Annual Conference & Training

The KACP Annual Training Conference is a chance to network with peers, browse the largest law enforcement vendor show in Kentucky, and receive quality training. KACP also partners with the Department of Criminal Justice Training, the Regional Community Policing Institute, and the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices in Kentucky to deliver timely information on topics important to law enforcement executives.
